Calling all cantors! Calling all cantors! We will begin rehearsals Monday morning, 8/20/2012, in the church, starting at 7:25am. I'm looking forward to another great year of music leadership and beautiful singing!
Greetings everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed a great summer. I truly had a fabulous summer. However, I'm ready to be back in the classroom, learning, laughing and creating with the students of St. Ann School!
First, I'd like to say how fortunate we are to have Dr. Morris for our principal. He has a challenging but wonderful vision for our school and a heart as big as Texas. I'm pleased to be working with him this year. Second, I'd like to say how extreeeeeeemely happy I am about our schedule changes. Seeing students for Music each week, for the entire year, has so many benefits. We will be able to accomplish so much and have time to enjoy what we're learning. There are more opportunities for grades. Plus, we have the time and space to be creative and see where music takes us. The previous schedule didn't afford us those luxuries. Theatre Arts is now on a quarterly basis. As it turns out, students have the benefit of more classes, as compared to the cycles we used to use. Again, there are more opportunities for grades, in addition to more time to explore and create. Third, Liturgy Choir is open to students in grades 5-8. Any interested student should come to rehearsal next week, August 21. Rehearsals are each Tuesday from 2:15-3:00. We dismiss from the church. Cantor rehearsals will begin on Monday, August 20. Rehearsals start at 7:25am in the church. Any student who was a cantor last year, is automatically welcomed as a cantor this year. Any 5th grader who is interested needs to see me for a private vocal interview. Cantors must be members of the Liturgy Choir. Finally, I'm trying to communicate as paperless as I can. I try to post news, scheduling info, test dates, etc here in my blog, instead of sending home paper. I will also be updating information on my website as time allows. Looking forward to a great year together! My best, Mrs. Clark |
